Can I use DDS for just part of my case?
Doctors who choose to use the services of Doctors Defence Service (DDS) may do so purely for a particular piece of work, or, for the whole of their case, or, for the handling of a particular legal matter.
There is no obligation on a doctor to sign up to a long-term contract. Doctors who use the services of a DDS lawyer will be sent a client care letter that sets out the lawyer’s terms and fees. The doctor will then be asked for their instructions as to how they want the DDS lawyer to progress their case or undertake a particular piece of work.
Where a doctor chooses, for whatever reason, to dispense with the services of their DDS lawyer we will respect the doctor’s decision without issue. Fees will remain payable for the work undertaken or contracted by the date of termination of the contract.
