Irish Medical Council Representation

IMC Legal RepresentationIrish Medical Council (IMC) Representation

The Irish Medical Council (the IMC) regulates doctors in Ireland. They have an interim undertakings committee as well as a formal fitness-to-practise (FTP) substantive process. Appeals lie to the High Court of Ireland.

The main legislation under which the IMC operates is the Medical Practitioners Act 2007.

Section 67 of the Act governs the IMC’s agreement of undertakings on an interim basis. In the alternative, the High Court must approve a suspension order.

Sections 69-70 of the Act govern the IMC fitness-to-practise hearings. Section 71 of the Act sets out the sanctions that the council may impose.

We advise and represent doctors at the Irish Medical Council (IMC). For more information, call us in the UK on 0800 10 88 739.
