The maintenance of professional boundaries is an important part of daily professional life for any medical doctor. They should not be in fear of being the subject of unwarranted and unreciprocated sexual, amorous or romantic advances. It is obvious that doctors are going to have natural human attractions just like anyone else, including sexual or romantics feelings, for their colleagues or patients. However, the prohibition on doctors having relationships with patients is one that most people endorse. Doctors Defence Service respresents and advises doctors in relation to defence tactics when facing allegations of misconduct for innappropriate and sexually motivated conduct.
